Introducing the Trainer
Faiers Training is owned and run by Nigel Faiers. He has over twenty years experience in the care & support sector, the last eight at a senior management level.

He has acted as the Supporting People lead officer for a Housing Association with a £1.5 million Supporting People grant income. Client groups included the elderly, young people, single homelessness, learning disabilities, mental health, domestic violence and drugs / alcohol. He has coordinated work on ensuring that the Association prepared for interim contract reviews, taking personal responsibility for the core service objective "Protection from abuse"

As well as line managing care and nursing home managers, he has fulfilled the responsibility of named proprietor, and developed a quality audit system to ensure compliance with the National Minimum Standards.

Before coming into the care and support sector his background involved public speaking and work in secondary school education. He is still regularly involved in public speaking outside of his primary work as a trainer.

Nigel is a qualified trainer and member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. Nigel has run training courses across England & Scotland and also trains the trainers for a leading Abuse Awareness charity. He sits on a National Housing Association's Management Board and chairs their Housing Management Committee.

Faiers Conferences is run by Denise Faiers, who organises a number of one day open courses each year. The open courses allow organisations to book one or more places for staff, rather than needing sufficient numbers to run an inhouse session.

Training Approach
Faiers Training firmly believes in the statement that you retain:
  • 10% of what you hear
  • 30% of what you see
  • 70% of what you do
The training techniques employed therefore includes a mixture of power point or overhead acetate presentation, flip chart work, memorable group exercises, DVD etc. There are comprehensive handouts covering the full day's content, and additional material. Care is taken to tailor the course and handouts to the organisation's own philosophy and ways of working, including policies and procedures already in existence.
